Ranya Rao Gold Smuggling: In the Ranya Rao gold smuggling case, the CBI has surprised everyone by leaving the ‘accused column’ blank in the FIR. Will there be a big arrest soon? Know the full details of this high-profile case and the strategy of the CBI..

Bengaluru: The CBI has left the ‘accused’ column blank in the FIR registered on Thursday in the gold smuggling case involving Kannada actress Ranya Rao, which has created a stir in political and administrative circles. Leaving the accused column blank is being described as a masterstroke by the CBI.

This decision of the CBI allows the agency to summon any person, especially when the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) suspects the involvement of a syndicate in this racket. The DRI has collected documents of several cases of gold smuggling, including two important arrests that point to an organized network between Dubai and India.

What did the ED find?

In this case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a money-laundering case in Delhi and on Thursday raided five other places in Bengaluru, including Ranya’s Lavelle Road flat. With the help of Bengaluru officials, ED officials also raided offices linked to Ranya’s husband in Adugodi, Indiranagar and Koramangala. It is being told that many documents and electronic gadgets were seized during the day-long raid.
